About Anna Lipowicz
I am Anna Lipowicz, an artist based in Toronto. I was born in Poland and received my education in the arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where I was fortunate enough to study under a respected professor, Nowosielski. After moving to Canada, I further developed my skills by studying graphic design at the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD).
Today, I reside in Toronto and divide my time between painting and teaching others the craft at my studio-gallery. My works can be found in private collections in countries such as France, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, the UK, the US, and Canada.
For me, painting is an integral part of my life, a form of self-expression that allows me to connect with the world around me. Painting for me is like breathing. If others can perceive the atmosphere and feel the spirit in my paintings, I have achieved my purpose.
My works are heavily influenced by my surroundings and I find immense inspiration in landscapes. For me, the landscape is an inspiration and contemplation of beauty and life. I try to capture and feel its every impulse and every emotion. I reject analyzing, I aim to feel free, happy and very alive and this is what I want to transfer to my paintings. It's a liberation from the urban grayness that surrounds us.
One particular landscape that has captured my imagination is the rainforest. The striking abundance of life in the rainforest is what drew me to the subject, and compelled me to extract this overwhelming, invisible life force onto the canvas.
My works have been featured in numerous exhibitions, both solo and as part of a group. Some of my notable exhibitions include a two-person show at the Kosciuszko Foundation Gallery in New York in 2012 and several solo exhibitions at the Artemis Fine Art Gallery in Toronto between 2006 and 2010. I have also exhibited at various other locations, including the Polish Consulate, the Convention Centre, and the Galerie Maig Davaud in Paris.
I am an artist who dedicates my life to painting. My works reflect my surroundings and my innermost thoughts and emotions, and I am grateful for the recognition they have received from art lovers around the world.
